Awaiāulu ʻIa E Ke Aloha No Molokaʻi
This compilation is the culmination of two years of work by the Institute for Hawaiian Music (IHM) at UH Maui College and its first-ever cohort of students on the island of Moloka‘i. Awaiāulu ‘Ia E Ke Aloha Nō Moloka‘i (“Bound Together By Love For Moloka‘i”) features nine recordings – seven of them original compositions by the students – that honor their home and its people.
This is the fifth commercial release by IHM. Their second, Aloha ‘Ia Nō ‘O Maui, won the Compilation Album of the Year award at the 2016 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, and their fourth, He Lani Ko Luna, He Honua Ko Lalo, won the inaugural Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award for Best Hawaiian EP (Extended Play Release).
Proceeds from this release will go to provide scholarships for IHM’ students and support future projects such as this.
