50 Years of Hula

When he graduating as a Kumu Hula from renown hula master, Maiki Aiu Lake, Robert Cazimero pursued a new path – he would teach only male hula. At a time when engendered attitudes made the male hula dancer a rare sight, Robert endured, shattering glass ceilings of expectation, cultural practice and innovation.

Fifty year's later, he has created a legacy of male hula through Hālau Nā Kamalei o Līlīlehua. He has graduated 10 new Kumu Hula and maintained a reputation of the highest excellence in hula – within the hula community and around the world.

Join Robert Cazimero, the friends who celebrate him, and the gentlemen of Hālau Nā Kamalei o Līlīlehua for Hawaiian Airlines May Day 2025, presented by Mele.
